Prairie Band Potawatomi Elder Center

The Elder Center performs a variety of services: delivers meals to homebound seniors around the reservation, serves 60-70 meals at the meal site Monday through Friday, and celebrates senior birthdays with one special birthday meal per month.

The KS-RIT regularly holds health screenings at the Elder Center as a way of identifying those at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other conditions that can lead to debilitation and illness.

6th Annual Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Pow Wow

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation's 6th annual Pow Wow took place June 11 -13 at the Prairie People's Park on the Potawatomi reservation.  For the 3rd year in a row, RIT students and faculty provided free health screenings to the attendees.

The event featured several contests in dancing, drumming, dress, and other categories.  In addition to the contests, exercise and athletic activities were organized by the tribe.

RIT students and faculty provided free health screenings in one of the shelter houses at Prairie People's Park.  Screenings conducted included blood glucose level, total cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure.
